About the Department

National institute of Management Studies (NIMS) was established in 2004 and is affiliated to the Madras University and also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India, New Delhi. It is the latest addition to the Hindustan Group of Institutions.

NIMS is confident of playing a vital role in realising Dr.Abdul Kalam's vision of transforming India into a superpower by 2020. NIMS is located on the IT corridor 10 kms from the Chennai city in KCG Nagar, Karapakkam on Rajiv Gandhi Salai,(Old Mahabalipuram Road). It is on a beautifully landscaped lush green stretch of land, very calm and pollution free, very conducive for studies.

Academic core philosophy is rooted in the belief that education, beyond knowledge must point the way to self-fulfillment through the development of the entire personality. By optimizing their potential and providing them direction through a cohesive training program, the NIMS team will empower each student to successfully confront and overcome the formidable competition that awaits them in the global market place.

The Full time course is for 2 years divided into 4 semesters of 6 months each.

Faculty

The Faculty of NIMS comprises of a team of highly qualified, eminent and dedicated staff with vast experience from reputed Institutions and in Industries. There is a Co-coordinator for career guidance, Counseling, Placement services and interaction with parents. Members of the faculty participate in continuing education programs conducted by Madras University, MMA, etc., to be updated with the changing trends in the field of education and industries. Our objective is to ensure that the student develops the confidence and poise to take on the world when he/she leaves our institution.

Facilities

The buildings have been planned and created in order to provide modern and latest facilities for the students. It has a built-up area of more than 52,000 sq.ft.. The campus has been designed by leading architects with landscaped courtyards and artificial lakes, which add beauty to the atmosphere of the classrooms and other places. Classrooms are furnished with modern seating arrangements with facilities for using audio-visual aids such as OHPs, LCD projectors etc.

Modern hostel facilities are also available separately for girls and boys with options for double and triple bedrooms accommodation with attached bathrooms. The Computer laboratories are well equipped . In addition round the clock transport facility, STD/ISD/Xerox booths and stand by generators are also available.

Library

The college library is well equipped with several thousands of Management books with over 21 National and 16 International Journals and Magazines. There is a separate section for reference and stack. The library is equipped with a computerized catalogue which facilitates online reference. Besides, the library provides Inter-library Loan Service from the British Council Library and has access to the vast resources available at the Hindustan College of Engineering library.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Students are provided all facilities to participate actively in several co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Our students have taken part in the intercollegiate sports and cultural activities and won laurels for our college. The college has laid emphasis on guest lecturers, education tours and continuous interaction with industries right from its inception.
