Hostel

The hostels in our campus are designed to provide an ideal environment conducive for academic pursuit.

Facilities

All the hostels are provided with dining halls, uninterrupted water supply, reading halls, round the clock STD, ISD booths, Internet connection, indoor recreation, television, and round the clock medical facility. Vehicles are arranged for inmates to visit the city on Sundays and other holidays.

The hostel facilities help students feel at home and enable them to pursue their studies in a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. The library is open till 5 p.m. everyday and book exhibitions are conducted in the campus. Internet Lab services are available till midnight and the canteen is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Admissions to the Hostels

Applications for admission to the hostels should be made in the prescribed form. A student seeking hostel admission must give an undertaking in writing that he/she will abide by the rules of the hostel. The parent or guardian shall endorse it. All matters related to the Hostel admission are dealt by the Warden/Assistant Warden of Hostels Guest House. Guest rooms are available on the campus for parents/guests/faculty visiting the college campus.

Hostel Rules

  1. A hostelite will have to stay in the room allotted to him/her with two or more inmates.

  2. Inmates of each room are jointly and independently responsible for the furniture, fittings, etc. Any damage to the hostel property is recoverable from them.

  3. Guests or outsiders are strictly prohibited from entering the hostel premises without prior permission of the warden.

  4. Once a student reserves his /her seat and pays the fees for hostel accommodation, he/she will not be eligible for refund, if he/she chooses not to stay in the hostel.

  5. Students may be expelled from the hostel for violation of rules and misconduct such as : theft, ragging, abnormal behaviour, use of drugs and alcohol, indiscipline, non-payment of fees, etc.

  6. A student expelled on disciplinary grounds shall forfeit his/her fees and deposit.

  7. The management reserves the right to refuse any applicant admission to the hostel. In matters of admission and discipline, the decision of the management shall be final and binding.

  8. Students with more than three arrears in their final year will not be allowed to stay in the hostel during the course of their exams.

Library

The library is the focal point and nerve centre of any educational Institution. The college library is well equipped with a large number of technical books and Indian and Foreign technical journals and periodicals, besides a good collection of light reading materials. The following facilities have been added recently

  1. Students can access audio/video information in the library (DVD, CD ROM, etc)

  2. LIBASOFT software is used in the areas of acquisition, cataloging, circulation, serials control, articles indexing and abstracting OPAC and union catalogue.

  3. All library activities are computerized.

  4. Students and staff are provided with “bar coded identity cards” to avail the facilities of the computerized library.

  5. Students can access digital content in the computing facility available in the library.

  6. Subscription of more than 900 online international Journals through INDEST – AICTE consortium / IEEE / ACM / Springer link Students can be avaied in the library from 8.15 AM to 5 PM on all working days.

Sports

Sports Facilities

The Institution has excellent playgrounds and facilities for Basketball, Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Cricket and Badminton. Students regularly participate in zonal and intercollegiate competitions and win laurels. Football, cricket, squash, hockey, volley ball and tennis are some of the games at which the college shines in various competitions. Students from the college also represent university teams.

Gymnasium

A well-equipped gymnasium that provides separate cardiovascular and weight training facility for boys and girls. Professional trainers ensure proper guidance, training and utilization of the facilities.

Sports Day

A Sports Day is held every year for our student and staff community. Students compete and display their skills at various athletic events such as 100 mts, 200 mts, 400 mts, 1500 mts, long jump, discus and javelin.

Cultural

Various cultural clubs hone the talents of the students. Freshers' Day, College Day, Hostel Day and Christmas celebrations offer wonderful opportunities for students to display their talents. Dance, Drama and Music shows are some of the events that take place during these occasions. Inter department culturals are held every year where students compete enthusiastically in onstage and offstage events.

Intercollegiate Competition

Dr KCG Verghese Memorial State-level Intercollegiate Competition - Participants from all over the state take part in tennis, volley ball and football tournaments. Attractive cash prizes are presented to the winners.

Other Facilities

Cafeteria 'TEK CAFE'

A well maintained college canteen is operated by catering professionals. The students are offered a wide range of meals (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian), snacks and beverages. A fast food center also operates within the campus.

Banking

The Indian Overseas Bank Union and the Bank of India at Guindy, Chennai, provide banking services at the campus.

Campus Store

A departmental store is available within the college campus where the students can purchase books, magazines, toiletries, stationary items, medicines, etc.

STD / ISD - Telephone Facility

A 24 hour operational, local and international telephone facility is available for the benefit of the student community.

Uninterrupted Electrical Supply

At KC Tech, we are focussed on providing a seamless learning experience to its students. In order to deliver a comfortable environment that engages students in their pursuit of knowledge, the Institution has installed a 250 KVA generator to provide uninterrupted power to all academic and hostel buildings.

Water Plant

A 24-hours Reverse Osmosis plant is operational to provide drinking water for the entire staff and student community, as well as the hostels.

Transport

A well-managed fleet of buses covers all major routes within the city to provide commutation services between the college and the student's residence.
