Career ProspectsElectrical engineering is one of the core fields of engineering, so it is always evergreen in terms of Scope and Job Prospects. Electrical Engineering is the heart of whole engineering discipline and therefore it scope will never fade even many years from now. Nowadays, we see Electronics playing an important role in the implementation and control of Electrical Machines. Keeping this fact file in mind the course have transformed from core electrical Engineering into a Fusion of Electronics and Electrical and has been renamed as Electronics and Electrical engineering Electrical Engineers are needed in all manufacturing units, All major companies of public and private sector such as Electricity Boards, Large Scale Industries, Manufacturing Plants, Power Corporations, Hydro-Electricity sector are continuously in need of Electrical Engineers for their projects. Electrical Engineers also find job prospects in Design Industries, Production plants, Natural gas plants, Petroleum as well as in steel and chemical plants. Electrical Engineers can also get a job in Major players in Public Sector such as Indian Railways, Armed forces (Technical Branch) and also in Thermal and Nuclear power Corporation Limited. |

LaboratoriesElectrical Machines Laboratory-I&IITo expose the students to the operation of D.C machines, transformers, synchronous machines and induction motors and to impart them with experimental skill. Major equipments to support this laboratory includes:
Key Equipments and FeaturesVVVF control circuit:The “Variable Voltage Variable Frequency control circuit (VVVF)” was purchased at a cost of Rs.2,00,000. The VVVF kit is used to control the speed of the induction motor by varying voltage and frequency to maintain the air gap flux constant. This method is known as V/f control. Control Panel & Machines:Fifteen – way control panel was purchased at a cost of Rs 2, 40,000. It is very useful to provide supply needs for all the ac and dc machines separately. We have surplus dc motors, dc generators, alternators, induction motors, synchronous motor to conduct all the experiments given by Anna university syllabus. Power Electronics LaboratoryTo study the characteristics of switching devices and its applications in rectifier inverter, chopper and resonant converter. This makes the student learn how to apply the electronic devices for conversion, control and conditioning of electronic power. It also gives an idea of different types of power semiconductor devices and their switching characteristics. This also helps to understand the operation, characteristics and performance parameters of controlled rectifiers. This lab gives an insite for different modulation techniques of pulse width modulated inverters and to understand the harmonic reduction methods. The Power Electronics Lab offers the student to get an idea of Matrix Converters. Key Equipments and FeaturesSCR Circuit module:It is a major Power Electronics Equipment which is used in many industrial applications. It can be used in high power applications where Alternating current is converted into Direct current. IGBT based three-phase PWM inverter:This is a high power application device where we can get pure sinusoidal output wave. Now a days in power generation and distribution these PWM inverters are highly preferred for power factor correction and for high efficiency. Control Systems LaboratoryTo expose the students to the principle of control engineering with specialized equipments – Servo motor, Synchros and stepper motor. To enhance the practical knowledge in simulation of first and second order systems. List of Equipments:
Key Equipments and FeaturesStepper motor is used in real time system and it can be used in projects. PID controller is used by students in their projects. Digital storage Oscilloscope is key equipment in transient analysis and most of the projects. Measurements and Instrumentation LaboratoryThe aim of this lab is to fortify the students with an adequate work experience in the measurement of different quantities and also expertise in handling the instruments involved. Its objective is to train the students in the measurement of displacement, resistance, inductance, torque and angle etc., and to give exposure to AC, DC bridges and transient measurement. Key Equipments and FeaturesLVDT Trainer KitThe Linear Variable Differential Transformer - LVDT Measurement Trainer model is designed to teach the students about the basics of Instrumentation Engineering, mainly for displacement measurement. The cost of the trainer is around Rs 10,000. Pressure Transducer KitA pressure transducer converts pressure into an analog electrical signal, which is useful in measuring the physical parameter. There are various types of pressure transducers; one of the most common is the strain-gage base transducer. The cost of the trainer is around Rs 15,000. Maxwell Bridge set up and ring specimen. The Maxwell’s bridge is used to measure unknown inductance by comparison with a standard variable capacitance. The cost of the trainer is around Rs 5,000. Power System Simulation LaboratoryThe main aim of this laboratory helps the Electrical students to acquire software developments skills and Experience in the usage of standard packages necessary for analysis and simulation of power system required for its planning, operation and control. This laboratory having objectives to develop simple C and C++ programs for the following requirements:
Key Equipments and FeaturesIn this laboratory we are using “AU POWER LAB” Software simulation package to meet the requirements of the “POWER SYSTEM SIMULATION LAB”. for the final year EEE students .The cost of this software is around Rs 75,600/-. Apart from the power system simulation lab , MATLAB software has been installed for the benefits of the students to do the CONTROL SYSTEM LABS and Project work. |
