B.E.Computer Science and Engineering

About the Department

Computer science or computing science is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation and of practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems. Software engineers can be involved in the design and development of many types of software, including computer games, word processing and business applications, operating systems and network distribution, and compilers, which convert programs to machine language for execution on a computer. Computer software engineers begin by analyzing users' needs, and then design, test, and develop software to meet those needs. The department at KC Tech, assisted by a dedicated faculty, constantly strives to improve academic standards. The syllabus keeps in view the requirements of the software industry and the response of the students has been overwhelming.

The Department was accredited by NBA for a Period of 3 Years and permanent affiliation has been granted to the department of CSE by Anna University, Chennai from the academic year 2009-10.

The department laboratories are interconnected through a well-designed seamless network with Internet facility with the speed of 4 Mbps to facilitate the student’s access to websites. This helps the students in meeting the demands of the curriculum.

The department also provides personality development programs for students , facilitates Industry -Institution interaction and offers placement assistance. The department has a student association called "Campus Technical club" whose primary purpose is to arrange seminars, workshops and technical interactions with industry. The association also conducts programming skill tests, quiz competitions, technical paper and poster presentations and several other activities designed to help the students improve their technical knowledge.

The department has campus agreement with Microsoft, IBM and Oracle Corporation for obtaining licensed software as per the demand of Anna University syllabus.

The department offers value added courses like Certificate course on Oracle 11g through the Oracle Work Force Development program by Oracle Trained faculty.

Mission

To provide high quality education and training to students in computer science, to be a leading centre of innovation and learning in emerging areas of computation and communication and thereby become a valuable resource for industry and society.

Department Library

Career Prospects

Computer Science has become a popular career choice and a subject of interest. The main reason being the advent of technology because of which the use of computers becoming more and more which has rendered computers ubiquitous these days. As computers are being used in every department and domain now, computer engineers will continuously be sought after for maintenance and innovation pertaining to those computer enabled services.

Though computer engineers are mostly involved in IT industries, demand for them is rising in other industries as well viz., bank, airlines, public utilities, manufacturing sector etc., as these industryies are becoming more technology oriented and computerized.

Computing professionals might find themselves in a variety of environments in academics, research, industry, government, private and business organizations — analyzing problems and finding solutions, formulating and testing, using advanced communications or multi-media equipment, or working in teams for product development.

Artificial Intelligence - Develop computers that simulate human learning and reasoning ability.

Computer Design and Engineering - Design new computer circuits, microchips, and other electronic components.

Computer Architecture - Design new computer instruction sets, and combine electronic or optical components to provide powerful but cost-effective computing.

Software Engineering - Develop methods for the production of software systems on time, within budget, and with few or no defects.

Operating Systems and Networks - Develop the basic software computers use to supervise themselves or to communicate with other computers.

One can specialize in the area as Software Engineers, Web developers, System analysts Consultants Knowledge engineers Webmasters and Networking.
