About the DepartmentThe department of Aeronautical engineering was started in 2007. The course covers, Aerodynamics, Aerospace Propulsion, Aerospace Structure, Aircraft Design, Aircraft maintenance, Air transportation, Avionics, and Project work. The department has a blend of both young and experienced Professors from pioneer Educational institutions like I.I.T., I.I.Sc., M.I.T. and with a long industrial experienced from advanced aerospace and aeronautical institutions like ISRO, DRDL, HAL, NAL, IAF and supported by highly skilled and experienced lab instructors. It has well equipped laboratories, excellent library and modern computer lab Multimedia hall, auditorium with supporting software for Design Analysis and Testing of aerospace vehicles are also available to support the curriculum. MissionTo develop the Aeronautical Engineering department as a centre of excellence in Aerospace Engineering and impart total quality knowledge with blend of industry exposure to the student community so as to deliver them suitable to the Aerospace industry requirements as a high quality products Research in Science, Engineering and Technology. Departmental LibraryThe Aero departmental library provides local & easy access to Text book, Reference books, Journals, Project Reports and internet resources to the faculty, Students and researchers. Career ProspectsAn aeronautical, or aerospace, engineer applies scientific and technological principles to research, design, develop, maintain and test the performance of civil and military aircraft, missiles, weapons systems, satellites and space vehicles. They also work on the different components that make up these aircraft and systems. The role is focused on enhancing high-quality flight safety and standards as well as reducing system costs. Increasingly, the role addresses the environmental impact of air travel. Aeronautical engineering offers a wide range of roles in research, design, development, testing, manufacture and maintenance. Many engineers specialise in a particular area such as propulsion, computational fluid dynamics, aerodynamics or materials and structures. For Aeronautical engineer jobs are available with the national, international, public and private Airline Services, aircraft-manufacturing units, Defense services and research and development organizations. In the Indian context the Defense service particularly the Air Forces and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) happen to be two major employment providers for Aeronautical Engineers. Moreover, the Aeronautical Engineers often get employment in organizations such as Hindustan Aeronautical Ltd (HAL), Defense Research and Development Laboratories (DRDO), National Aeronautical Lab (NAL), Aeronautical Development Establishment. Apart from these government organizations, a lot of software companies like Mahindra Satyam, L & T Infotech, Ramco System, Infosys and other Aeronautical development organizations also recruit Aero students. A lot of job opportunities for aeronautical engineers are also available in countries like United States of America, France, UK and Germany. |

LaboratoriesAircraft Structures LabThe aircraft structures lab imparts practical knowledge on the unsymmetrical bending of beams, find the location of shear centre, obtain the stresses in circular discs and beams using photo elastic techniques, calibration of photo – elastic materials and study on vibration of beams. It also provides the students to study experimentally the load deflection characteristics in structural materials under different types of load. Aero Engine LabTo introduce the knowledge of the maintenance and repair of both piston and jet aero engines and the procedures followed for overhaul of aero engines. The lab is equipped with the following engines which are used in Aero Engines.
Aircraft System LabTo train the students on hand experience in maintenance of various airframe systems in aircraft and rectification of common snags. Learjet Aeroplane – 24D model with all systems serviceable and in ground running condition is available for this purpose. Also Cessna – 172 L model piston engine aircraft is also available in ground running condition. Both the aircrafts are used to train the Aero students “ON HAND” experience for ‘Jacking up’ the a/c ‘Leveling’, ‘Rigging checks’ and ‘Symmetry Checks’, filter element checks, pressure test and functional checks of both fuel and hydraulic systems are covered. Brakes testing and rectification of snags in hydraulic & fuel systems are also covered. Avionics LabThis laboratory is divided into three parts to train the students to learn about basic digital electronics circuits, programming with microprocessors, design and implementation of data buses in avionics with MIL – Std. 1553B and remote terminal configuration and their importance in different applications in the field of Avionics. Propulsion LabTo understand the basic concepts and carryout experiments in Aerospace Propulsion. Airframe LabTo give training on riveting, welding, fabric patch repairs, sheet metal bending, pipe flaring and bending, so that Aero students are conversant with different materials and fabricating processes. |

Admission ProcedureUNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMESApplication for admission to a course should be made only in the prescribed form, which will be sent along with the prospectus. Application form properly filled-in should be sent only to the Admission Office or handed over in person along with
All Students including Foreign Nationals and NRIs seeking admission to any course should attach xerox copies of the mark sheet of qualifying examination and proof of age, which are duly attested along with the application. The candidates should produce authentic certificate indicating the corresponding marks of each grade in the mark sheet. Applications, which are incomplete or not accompanied by the prescribed documents and registration fee are liable for rejection. The scrutiny committee will process the applications and provisionally select the students on merit. An interview will be conducted if necessary. The Applicants from distant places may be selected on the basis of merit without interview. The final selection will be based on their marks in the qualifying examination, performance in the aptitude test and group discussion and interview. If any candidate is found to have secured admission by fraudulent methods like presentation of forged certificates / dishonoured DD etc., he/ she will be dismissed from the college at any time during the courses and will forfeit the fees paid. The admission notice will be sent to the selected candidates intimating the dates on which they should report at the admission office with the following original certificates.
After scrutiny of the above documents and payment of the prescribed fees, the student will report to the Principal, with the admission letter to join the course. The date(s) of joining the course will be intimated in advance. |
